             Someone sent me this back in 2001. I’m not sure what the application is... other than be who God made you to be.  :)

Why It's Great to be a Dog

1) No one expects you to take a bath every day.

2) If it itches, you can scratch it.

3) There's no such thing as bad food.

4) A rawhide bone can entertain you for hours.

5) If you grow hair in weird places, no one notices.

6) You can lie around all day without worrying about being fired.

7) You don't get in trouble for putting your head in a stranger's lap.

8) You're always excited to see the same people.

9) Having big feet is considered an asset.

10) Puppy love can last.

The Talking Lab

             An old joke goes like this:

            A guy is driving around and sees a sign in front of a house: Talking Dog For Sale.  He rings the bell and the owner tells him the dog is in the backyard.  The guy goes out and sees a Lab sitting there. 

            “You talk?” he asks. 

            “Yep,” the Lab replies.  

            “So, what’s your story?” 

            The Lab says, “Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young and I wanted to help the government.  So I told the CIA and in no time they had me eavesdropping on spies and world leaders.  For 8 years I was 1 of the most valuable spies.  But I got tired and I wanted to settle down.  I retired and was awarded a batch of metals.  I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I’m retired.”

            The guy goes back and asks how much for the dog? 

            “$10,” he’s told. 

            "Why so cheap? The dog is amazing."

            “He’s a liar. He didn’t do any of that stuff.”

            Think Jesus was addressing situations like this when he said, “Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’…”?  :)

Hero dog risks life to save kittens from fire

            In October of 2008, the residents of Melbourne, Australia hailed a hero. He was a terrier-cross named Leo. He was a dog.

            A fire had broken out during the night at a residence in that Australian city. Leo refused to leave the house, instead, steadfastly guarding a box containing a litter of kittens until firefighters arrived and saved the young ones.

            Rescue personnel had to revive Leo using oxygen and heart massage.

"Leo wouldn't leave the kittens and it nearly cost him his life," Commander Ken Brown reported to the press. And, yes, the kittens survived.

            So many in creation have been endowed with the instinct and desire to save others, even at the expense of one’s own life. When Jesus called upon His disciples to “deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow me”, He was not calling them to cruel service. Instead, He was summoning them to conform to the standard by which they had been designed by their Creator. This holds true today.
